Dear Sir
I remitted by express to-day fifteen dollars for Calvin’s board to 15th March. –
I called at the Kimball House as pr appointment but failed to find you. The time was 9 A.M. but the Hotel Clock marked 9.20. As 2 of the trains run by Savannah time the Hotel clocks are set to that time. – I called again the succeeding morning and was informed that you had left the City. – I regret losing the opportunity of a further acquaintance.
Yrs very truly

C. D. Foote Esq
Ben Ficklin (?) - Texas
Dear Sir
You were kind enough to reply to my queries of last May, relative the character of lands in the Old So. Pacific RR surveys S. East and West of your town. – Some gentlemen of this city are discussing the matter of sheep raising in Northern Texas, and are much inclined to embark some capital in sheep Ranches in that country. – May I trespass again on your kindness in asking if there are Ranches near you and if the lands before mentioned are well adapted to sheep grazing. – Do you have much snow in winter? Are the “Northers” severe and frequent? – What of the society in your little town? – Has there been any considerable increase of population in your vicinity during the past year? – Any other information which may occur to you will be of interest and your kindness will be highly appreciated.
Yrs very truly
L. P. Grant
