My dear Sister –
I have the pleasure of enclosing a check on Nal. Park Bk. New York payable to the order of John Hood Seavey for fifty dollars. John will endorse it and get the money for you. While my own pecuniary affairs are not flourishing I felt it my duty to lighten the burden which bears heavily on you. This small aid may do good in your prudent hands. While my cares and duties are heavy, my health, thank God, is excellent. Laura and myself talk of you, your afflicted husband, and meritorious family with the most active sympathy in your bereavement and hard struggle for support. Give my love to Brother Joseph and to all of your family and other relatives whom you may meet.
Our family are in good health. Only Lemuel and Lettie make their home with us. John & Myra are near where we can see them at our pleasure. Accept a brother’s love and ardent wishes that God will give you grace to bear the ills of life and strength to meet every day.
Truly yours L. P. Grant
