Be it known to all men that I, Lemuel P. Grant of the County and State aforementioned, with a view to the promotion of the Gospel of Our Savior have donated to J.B. Pilgrim, W. E. Hauye [?], J. J. Stowers, F. M. Richardson, J.C. Watkins, O.A. Thrower, C. N. Mangam, C. A. Adamson & W. H. Frizzell, Trustees of St Paul Methodist Episcopal Church South, the use and occupancy of a certain piece of land in the city of Atlanta on which said Trustees have erected a wooden church Edifice; said piece of land commencing on the North side of Hunter Street seventy feet West of Bell Street and extending West along Hunter Street seventy feet thence back North one hundred and forty feet, with the uniform width of seventy feet. – Said Trustees and their Successors in Office to have the use and occupancy of said piece of land so long as it shall be used exclusively for a church lot and no longer; and I hereby bind myself, my heirs and legal representatives not to disturb said Trustees and their Successors in Office in the use and occupancy of said piece of land exclusively for a church lot and maintained as a place of Divine Worship for the use of the Ministry and Membership of the Methodist Episcopal Church South; subject to the discipline, usage and ministerial appointments of said Church and the Annual Conference within whose bounds the said premises are situated. And I further grant to said Trustees and their Successors in Office the right to remove the Church Edifice from said premises if they shall at any time desire to vacate said premises it being distinctly understood that said Trustees and their Successors in Office shall not use said piece of land nor any portion thereof for any other purpose that as Church lot.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this the seventh day of September in the year of Our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Seventy Two (1872)
