A Brief History Of L. P. Grant
Lemuel Pratt Grant 1817-1893
1817 – Born Frankfort, Maine on August 11th.
Boyhood days spent on farm.
1829-1835 – Farm worker; village store clerk; attended school at irregular intervals; no collegiate education; adept at mathematics.
1836 – Age 19, acquired knowledge in mechanical and civil engineering; position of rodman in the engineering corps of Philadelphia & Reading Railroad.
1837 – Assistant engineer of Philadelphia & Reading Railroad.
1893 – Passed away on January 11th. Second wife expired 1912. They are both buried in common plot at Westview Cemetery with their respective first spouses buried on either side.
